José Zendejas Foyo develops a multidisciplinary practice focused on making visible what normally remains intangible. Through painting, matter, sculpture and action, he investigates emotional and existential states linked to love, memory, time, loss, waiting and disappearance. His work functions as an emotional archaeology: he builds, accumulates, covers, wears down and reveals surfaces to explore the traces left by experience. Rather than representing events, he seeks to materialize what remains after them.
“Materialize the intangible and reveal the traces of lived experience.”
José Zendejas Foyo is an architect and visual artist. He studied Architecture at Universidad del Valle de México, San Luis Potosí campus, and joined Zendejas Arquitectos in 2012. In parallel with his architectural practice, he develops a visual practice spanning painting, sculpture, material experimentation and performance, exploring space, matter, perception and memory.
